If you're experiencing tooth pain, or have a loose or broken tooth, we will examine it for you and determine whether it can be saved or should be removed. Our primary goal with general dental care is to preserve your smile and do what we can to keep your original teeth in place whenever possible.

Occasionally though, a tooth becomes decayed, impacted or loose to the point where it needs to be removed. Extractions are a relatively common and straightforward procedure that your Avalon Dental care team can perform in one short visit.

The good news is that extractions aren't the end of the road for your smile. State-of-the-art technology and materials offer us many options for replacing extracted teeth that will look at least as good as your natural teeth, and work just as well.

Impacted Teeth Removal

An impacted tooth occurs when it remains stuck in the gums, unable to fully surface above the gum line due to various reasons. In the case of a wisdom tooth, the cause is often crowding of other teeth, preventing the wisdom tooth to fully break through the gums.

When this happens, the tooth will need to be extracted in order to prevent misalignment, and avoid teeth pushing against one another. Also a condition called pericoronitis could result where a partially emerged tooth becomes a trap for food particles and plaque that will cause further dental problems.

If you prefer sedation therapy during an extraction procedure, discuss your options with your dentist prior to your treatment. We offer oral sedation medication, and nitrous oxide so that you can relax and have your extraction done stress-free.

Ask your dental care team about home hygiene alternatives available to you that will help keep your teeth and gums healthy between visits. Contact Avalon Dental Group today to schedule an appointment for you or a family member.
