Dr. S. Dannie Yu, M.S., D.D.S.

Dr. Yu received his B.A. in History of Art from the University of Michigan, and still loves to discuss the topic casually as well as visit local art galleries.  After two years of laboratory research in Biochemistry, Dr. Yu obtained his Masters of Science in Human Physiology and Biophysics from Georgetown University in Washington D.C.  He is still trying to figure out what "Biophysics" means.  Dr. Yu then returned to the University of Michigan to obtain his D.D.S. before returning to his hometown of Houston, TX.

Dr. Yu’s hobbies include playing outdoors with his wife Mindy, and his yellow lab Duke or walking the aisles at Home Depot or Fry’s Electronics, contemplating his next impulse buy. Occasionally, he actually enjoys his self-inflicted seven hour round of golf.  Otherwise, Dr. Yu can be found either watching Michigan football or talking about Michigan football to just about anyone that will listen.

Nguyet, B.S., B.S. D.H., Hygienist

Prior to becoming a hygienist, Nguyet, was an elementary school teacher. After 10 years of teaching, she decided to make a career change. Dental hygiene seemed to be the best choice because it not only gives her the freedom to work with each patient based on his/ her individual needs, but it also allows her more time to be with her family.

Nguyet came to Avalon Dental because she shares the same philosophy of practice as Dr. Yu. She believes that regardless of the patient's culture, age, economic or health status, he/she should be treated with the best patient care, using the most contemporary methodologies and practices. Patients often commented about their cleaning experiences with Nguyet as being very thorough, but yet gentle.

On her days off, Nguyet likes to spend time with her family and friends either watching the latest movie or eating at a local restaurant. She loves to talk about foods with a passion.

Michelle, Associates Degree
Michelle has an associates degree in business administration, and has been in the dental field for nearly 10 years. Michelle has extensive training in practice management and a wide knowledge of dental insurance issues. In addition to her impressive qualifications, Michelle also has a unique ability to ensure a seamless patient experience while establishing caring relationships with our patients. Michelle also strives to answer all of our patients questions to ellicit smiles and a sense of ease.

Leslie, Registered Dental Assistant

Leslie is a very out going gal who loves meeting and socializing with people. She strives to make each patient as comfortable as possible while they receive dental care. She enjoys taking the time to visit with patients, whether it's answering questions or just chatting about their interests.

Leslie is passionate about dentistry because everyone's needs are different and everyday she learns something new. But the greatest reward for Leslie is getting to see someone's beautiful smile!

When she's not at Avalon, Leslie enjoys shopping, camping, traveling, and spending time with loved ones, including her puppy, Cash.
